The Canadian government is consulting Canadians and stakeholders on a proposed approach to partnerships in Africa. The Government of Canada is seeking input on the approach for partnerships in Africa currently being developed.

The Canadian government has identified Africa as a continent of change, aspiration, and renewal that is of growing geopolitical and economic importance on the global stage. The Canadian government is reviewing its approach to engaging with African institutions and countries to work towards building a stronger, expanded, and more visible partnership.

At Sabilink, we have identified that Africa's youthful population presents significant advantages to companies in the West, offering opportunities for growth, innovation, and partnership. Here are some key benefits:

  • Skilled Workforce - Africa’s young population is increasingly educated, with many youths acquiring skills in technology, engineering, and other fields. Canadian companies can benefit from this talent pool by outsourcing work, establishing local operations, or hiring remotely.
  • Sabilink helps to upskill young talents in Africa to meet the needs of Canadian companies.

  • Cost-Effective Labor: Compared to other regions, Africa offers a cost-effective labor force, allowing Canadian companies to reduce operational costs while benefiting from skilled and motivated employees.
  • Local Partnerships and Market Entry: Canadian companies can form strategic partnerships with Sabilink, leveraging our local knowledge and networks to enter Africa and Europe markets more effectively.
  • Joint Ventures in Emerging Sectors: Sabilink Accelerator Hub is your trusted partner in Africa in sectors like fintech, agritech, and edtech which presents opportunities for joint ventures that combine Canadian companies’ resources with Africa expertise to develop scalable solutions.
  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Investing in Africa’s youthful population through initiatives like education, entrepreneurship support, and sustainable development projects can enhance a company’s CSR profile, demonstrating a commitment to global development.
  • There also challenges in running businesses in Africa, nevertheless we are here to help you mitigate some of the risks:

  • Skills Gap: While Africa has a large labor force, there is a significant skills gap in tech. Finding qualified employees with the necessary technical skills and experience can be challenging, leading to increased training costs.
  • However, at Sabilink, we upskill talent to ensure they have the necessary skills to hit the ground running on day one

  • Infrastructure Deficiencies: Unreliable power supply and telecommunications infrastructure in some African countries (like Nigeria) are significant challenges for businesses, leading to increased operational costs.
  • Fortunately, we are currently situated in a self service office where remote talents would work from. The space is fitted with adequate equipment, high speed internet and uninterrupted power supply.

  • Regulatory and Legal Challenges: Compliance with business registration, tax laws, and industry-specific regulations can be time-consuming and costly. Businesses might face challenges due to changing regulations or differing interpretations by authorities
  • The Canadian Trade Commissioner can help resolve the regulatory and legal challenges faced by Canadian companies. More information about the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service can be found here

We look forward to partnering with you to explore the Africa and Europe market.
