Breakout sessions are pretty common at physical conferences. Because sitting through these conferences which are typically laden with multiple presentations can be sometimes exhausting regardless of how interesting the speaker is or how interested the listener is in it. The break out sessions allow participants take a break from passively listening to these presentations. It also encourages participation, interaction and provides a forum for stimulating in-depth discussions among participants.
Breakout sessions are not very common in online classes but understanding its many benefits, we have incorporated it into our training model to ensure that participants have a wholesome experience.
After presentations by the instructor, the participants are split into breakout rooms where they are to discuss based the on the previous class. Short tasks will also be given with participants expected to give feedbacks after they are done. The sessions also spill into the slack channel where participants discuss these tasks.
Another major reason for these break out sessions is to enable the peer review process take place. Participants grade their peers based on how helpful We see it as an important factor for students to grow, foster friendship, build professional connection among one another, understand concepts more easily and to grow confidence and independence. After every session, students are required to have discussions amongst themselves as this is a clause within the service level agreement. These group discussions are based on assignments/projects that have been put in place as part of the curriculum by the tutor. There are several benefits of break out sessions.
Breakout rooms are more personal
Participants are more comfortable joining the conversation when teams meet in smaller groups. Those who are normally shy in the larger class s feel more at ease in a smaller group. They have the opportunity to speak with one another in a more relaxed setting and can express themselves without fear of being drowned out by the crowd.
When teams break into smaller meetings, they open up discussion on topics that may have been overlooked
Our live classes are designed to ensure participants are learning, sharing, and receiving feedback in real-time. To elevate the virtual learning process, we completely shift the experience from what would have otherwise been perceived as a teacher-student relationship to a peer-peer relationship to ensure ease of communication.
Smaller meetings hold attendees more accountable
It can be easy for an individual to get lost in a several participants. On the other hand, smaller groups make each participant more accountable for contributing.
Provides an alternative to passive listening.
Because long periods of passive listening can exhaust participants, breakout sessions are another way for participants to discuss and contribute among one another.Breakout sessions are sure to enhance the success of any class. It provides participants with the opportunity to take a little break, network, and learn and provide feedback in a less formal environment.
